The Stitch Project

The Stitch Project was founded in 2012 by a group of seven international artists. Our first gathering was at the Sámi festival Riddu Riddu in Kåfjorden in Troms, Northern Norway in July 2012. Our art project has three main activities which we invite everyone to join in on. Our main tasks are the dialogue we create together around the table and the exchange of knowledge in the crafts and our life experiences.

We embroider on a 10-meter-long tablecloth. People come and sit around the tablecloth and embroider together with us. A lot of stories are told around the table, a lot of good dialogues appear and sometimes quietness while working together is also pleasant. We also teach how to spin with local wool and dye with plants from the area. We also invite for seminars and events where we elaborate on art, collaboration and local issues. The Stitch Project has been invited to more than 50 different art- and theatre festivals biennials and exhibitions in Palestine, Gaza, Iceland, Sweden, Latvia, Ukraine, Denmark and Norway since we started in 2012.
